I specialise in cataract surgery without the need for wearing glasses and have been a co-investigator for a randomised controlled clinical trial comparing multifocal, accommodative and monofocal intraocular lenses. I have a special interest in cataract surgery in patients with diabetes and uveitis.
One of my areas of expertise involves the use of the latest intravitreal therapies including Lucentis, Eylea, Avastin, Ozurdex, Illuvien and Jetrea for a wide spectrum of retinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal vein occlusions. I have also been a sub-investigator for the international GENEVA Study Group for the use of the Ozurdex implant for central and branch retinal vein occlusions. I continually evaluate emerging, evidence based novel treatment therapies for retinal disease, aspiring to achieve the best for my patients.
I undertook the vast majority of my postgraduate ophthalmology training at King’s College Hospital (London) and Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge) acquiring general and specialist ophthalmology experience. I obtained my postgraduate doctorate (MD) at University of London evaluating ocular blood flow in diseases of the retina, in particular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy (diabetic eye disease).
I complemented my postgraduate clinical training by completing a Fellowship in medical retina and uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital, an eye hospital of international acclaim.
I have presented at both national and international conferences and published in peer reviewed journals. I have co-authored a chapter on ocular disease in an optometry textbook.
