I am a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Princess Alexandra NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in cornea, cataract, external diseases and refractive surgery. I have over 10 years’ experience in ophthalmology.
I completed two cornea fellowships at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and trained under the mentorship of Professor Massimo Busin, one of the global leading corneal surgeons. I completed two years as a fixed term consultant in advanced corneal surgeries, cataract and external diseases at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
I have a Master of Science and a PhD in cornea transplantations, undertaken at Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt with numerous publications and research papers in peer reviewed scientific journals. I also hold a senior lecturer position at Alexandria University.
As an accredited Visumax Zeiss user, I perform a comprehensive range of laser refractive procedures including SMILE, LASIK and PRK. In addition to the whole spectrum of laser refractive surgery options, I have great expertise and experience in a variety of other refractive procedures including lens replacement surgery, with a variety of multifocal lens implants. I provide refractive solutions to a wide range of patients including presbyopic patients.
Throughout my career I have been active both in teaching and research, presented at national and international scientific meetings. As a regional training program director in ophthalmic training (OPT) in east of England, I oversee training of all allied healthcare professional training in this region.
