Ms Sonia Kumar

Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgeon

BM, BCh

I am a highly skilled Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgeon specialising in various aspects of ENT surgery, with a particular focus on otology and ear disorders affecting both adults and children.

I graduated from Oxford University Medical School, where I laid the foundation for my distinguished medical career. Following my medical education, I completed my surgical training in the West Midlands, advancing to higher surgical training in Oxford. My commitment to excellence in my field is further demonstrated by my completion of two prestigious fellowships: the Oxford Otology Fellowship and the International Paediatric Otology and Airway Fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Currently, I am a vital member of the auditory implant team at Oxford University Hospitals, where I specialise in all aspects of ear surgery, including hearing restoration and otological implants such as bone-anchored hearing aids and cochlear implants. In addition to my work with adults, I am also an integral part of the paediatric ENT team, ensuring comprehensive care for younger patients.

I extend my expertise to Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust, where I serve as an otology and paediatric ENT surgeon at Stoke Mandeville and High Wycombe hospitals. My dedication to improving the quality of life for my patients through innovative surgical solutions embodies my passion for the field of otology.

I am an active participating member of the ENT UK council as well as Regional Specialty Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons England. I am also a member of the British Society of Otology (BSO), British Cochlear Implant Group (BCIG), British Paediatric Association of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngolists (BAPO) and European Association of Paedaitric Otorhinolaryngolists (ESPO).
