I specialise in the management of hip-related problems. My private practice is based at St Anthony’s hospital in Cheam and the Lister hospital in London. I am the UK’s most experienced surgeon in the muscle sparring, Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) Hip Replacement and I have used this technique in over 2,000 cases. I am a world leader in hip preservation and minimally invasive, rapid recovery hip replacement surgery.
I completed my medical training at the Westminster Hospital. After being awarded a PhD from the University of Cambridge, I completed my specialist training in Orthopaedics in London, Cambridge and Melbourne. I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St Helier Hospital, Surrey and moved to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC) in 2004.
My NHS clinical practice is undertaken at the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC), where I was the Director of Research from 2004-2021. This is the UK’s highest volume joint replacement centre for hip and replacement.
I was awarded a personal chair at St George’s University of London, in 2013. I am a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at St George’s University of London.
I was president of the International Society for Hip Preservation Surgery (ISHA) in 2016 and served as a board member of the British Hip Society (BHS). I am currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hip Preservation Surgery (JHPS) and as the HCA chair for National Joint Registry (NJR) surgeon audit.
