Specialises in
I graduated in 2001 from the University of Glasgow having obtained degrees in Immunology and Medicine. My sub-specialist training in airways inflammation led to the award of PhD in 2013. Specialist Certification in Respiratory Medicine was awarded in 2010. Having joined the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2004, I was elevated to Fellow in 2016. I have been involved in the examining boards of the Federation of Royal Colleges for over a decade and continue to train and supervise junior doctors at all stages.
I was appointed as a Consultant in General Internal and Respiratory Medicine in August 2014 at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. I provide care in all areas of respiratory disease and have subspecialist interests in pleural disease and asthma.
I offer a patient centred and holistic approach. I am passionate about respiratory medicine and consider it a privilege when patients entrust me with their care.
In addition to a busy clinical workload, I continue my research, having been a local principal investigator in cancer, COVID related studies and co-investigator in airways related research. In 2020, I was appointed as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow in recognition of my academic activities.
More recently I have extended my training to the fields of Health Policy and Economics and Healthcare Leadership.
