I have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon for over 19 years. I am research active and so abreast of developments in my field of urology. I have a MBE (2013) for services to the NHS and a national Clinical Excellence Award. I am an medical legal expert.
I have particular expertise in prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction. I set up and lead the regional prostate low dose brachytherapy service at Barts Health NHS Trust. I provide a prostate transperineal template biopsy service which is the gold standard means of diagnosing prostate cancer.
I have wide experience in core urology procedures, including transurethral surgery of prostate and bladder. I have performed 100 transurethral needle ablation of prostate for benign prostate enlargement, probably the largest NHS experience in the UK. I have carried out over 500 template prostate biopsies and taught several urologists the technique over the past 8 years.
I am urology lead at Newham University Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, Chairman of the Department of Health Prostate Cancer Advisory Group, Chairman of the registered charity Cancer Black Care.
In addition to my clinical commitments I am also an honorary clinical senior lecturer at Queen Mary’s College, University of London and since December 2014 an honorary visiting Professor in the School of Health Sciences, City University, London.
I have my website with 1,500 -2,000 hits per month providing patient information. It has Health on the Net accreditation, which marks it out as a health website of quality.
