"Recognised as one of the most experienced interventional radiologists performing PAE in the UK and 2018 NHS NIHR award winner."
Professor Little is recognised as one of the most experienced interventional radiologists performing PAE in the UK. He has presented his research on the topic internationally, regularly teaches and mentors other consultants on this technique, and is a current advisor on PAE to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) England.
Professor Littleās initial training in PAE was under the guidance of Prof Pisco, Lisbon, who is well recognised as one of the pioneers of PAE. Subsequently Professor Little successfully gained grant funding from the Royal College of Radiologists to start the first UK research study investigating the effectiveness of prostate artery embolisation in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Professor Little has received international awards for his research, published numerous peer-reviewed papers, and written several book chapters on interventional radiology.
In 2011 he was awarded the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) for his achievements in education.
He currently holds the posts of lecturer in Anatomy and Embryology at Keble College, University of Oxford, Visiting Professor at the University of Reading, and is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
Professor Little prides himself on providing the best treatment package for individual patients, with particular emphasis on explaining the procedure, potential side effects, and what to expect afterwards. He uses state-of-the-art imaging technology to accurately plan the PAE procedure, maximising success and minimising complications.
