Physiotherapist recognised for delivering outstanding patient care at Spire Leeds Hospital

06 November 2024

An IRIS (Inclusive Recognition of Inspirational Staff) award celebrates the pivotal role and achievements that clinical colleagues have in providing excellent care to patients. Any Spire patient or colleague can nominate someone for an award.

Joanne Farquhar was nominated for demonstrating excellent patient care, going above and beyond to support her patients through personalised care plans. Following the successful completion of the physiotherapy apprenticeship program at Spire Leeds Hospital in 2022, she regularly receives positive feedback from her patients and colleagues. Joanne also drives clinical excellence by presenting shared learnings to her colleagues, ensuring outstanding clinical care is a priority within her department.

51 Spire colleagues from across our 38 hospitals were nominated for an IRIS award, with a cross-departmental panel formed to select seven winners.

Ceri Morgan, Hospital Director for Spire Leeds Hospital, said: “I’m delighted that Joanne has been named as a Spire IRIS award winner. She exemplifies the outstanding, compassionate care we strive to provide for our patients, and works tirelessly to make our patients’ experience of being in our hospital as comfortable as possible. Joanne is an absolute credit to Spire Healthcare.”

Joanne Farquhar, a physiotherapist from Spire Leeds Hospital, one of the IRIS award winners, said: “It’s a real honour to be nominated, let alone win the award! I’m very lucky to work with such an amazing team and feel incredibly proud to be able to make a difference within my role every day.”
