Spire Methley Park Hospital maintains its 'Good' CQC rating
25 January 2024
Spire Methley Park Hospital has maintained its overall ‘Good’ rating, following an unannounced inspection of services by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in November 2023. The previous inspection had been in 2016.
As well as receiving a ‘Good’ overall rating, the CQC rated the hospital ‘Good’ for being safe, effective, caring, responsive to patients’ needs and well-led, and for each of the services they inspected; surgery, diagnostic imaging and outpatients.
In its report, CQC inspectors praised the way in which hospital leaders were focused on the needs of patients and that colleagues treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, and helped them understand their conditions. They made particular mention of the way that the hospital teams took account of patients’ individual needs, made it easy for people to give feedback and provided emotional support to patients, families and carers. People could access healthcare services when they needed it and did not have to wait too long for treatment, the inspectors said.
The CQC noted that Spire Methley Park had received a gold award for being a quality data provider from the National Joint Registry. This showed the hospital’s commitment to patient safety, and accountability through data submission and results.
The CQC also commented positively on how hospital leadership engaged and supported colleagues to feel respected, supported, and valued. They added that the hospital engaged well with patients and the community to plan care to meet the needs of local people.
Following on from its support for the NHS during the pandemic, Spire Methley Park is pleased to be helping local NHS trusts to address waiting lists in the area, caring for some of those NHS patients who have been waiting the longest for care.
Andrew Webster, Hospital Director at Spire Methley Park Hospital, said: “Everyone at Spire Methley Park is delighted with the news of our ‘Good’ rating from the CQC. This demonstrates our significant efforts to drive clinical excellence; deliver high-quality and compassionate patient care; and be an employer of choice for outstanding colleagues. Keeping our patients safe and comfortable while delivering outstanding personalised care remains our priority – the entire team should be incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved here at Methley Park.”
