Being told I had to have spinal surgery was extremely scary (I even refused to have it at first). After weeks of debate and pain I finally agreed to have a lower spinal fusion.
Mr Annis my surgeon was really great, he took the time to put my fears into context, he explained at great lengths the risks with the surgery but he put me at ease, I trusted Mr Annis and went for the surgery.
I can honestly say that it has been one of the best decisions of my life, I was 32 when I had the surgery. I could hardly walk, I was in constant pain and unable to look after myself let alone my children.
It’s been a year since I had my op and I can hand on heart say Mr Annis gave me my life back and I will be eternally grateful, I don’t have any pain and can move freely.
Recovery wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, I thought I’d wake up in pain and I didn’t. Obviously when I woke up I was stiff, I had a few weeks of moving slow and needing help and the itching from the healing scar drives you up the wall. I would say my experience in such a scary situation was 100% excellent and thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the staff at Spire Liverpool, you where all great and have the patience of a saint.
