There’s a wonderful patient focused mentality at Spire Healthcare and everyone really cares about the work they do.
Isabelle Alexander (East Midlands Hub) , Business Development Executive

Patient focused mentality

How long have you been working at Spire Healthcare?

Nearly three years.

What made you choose a career at Spire Healthcare?

Healthcare was new to me, so at the time I applied for a variety of companies but as soon as I stepped into Spire, I knew that it was the type of company I wanted to work in.

What’s an 'average day' like for you in your role as a Business Development Executive?

My days are so varied as I work on projects throughout the business. I typically get into the hospital at around 8.30am and will get ahead with some emails. The team works across three hospitals (Spire Nottingham, Spire Leicester and Spire Claremont hospitals) so we have a team call, then I start working on specific projects, be it website editing, social media posts, consultant meetings or looking into some new equipment.

What do you enjoy most about working at Spire Healthcare?

The people. Everyone that I have worked with at Spire is incredibly approachable and supportive. There’s a wonderful patient focused mentality and everyone really cares about the work they do.

What do you find most challenging? And how do you overcome those challenges?

Healthcare in general is very complex and there’s so much to learn; what can seem like a simple thing to do is actually very difficult. I overcome these challenges by continuously learning and asking questions and also getting a variety of people involved in projects.

What valuable skills have you learnt since joining Spire Healthcare?

Problem solving, decision making and collaboration.

Tell us a bit about the team you work with?

I work with another Business Development Executive and two Primary Health Relationship Managers within my hub and we all have one Business Development and Sales Director.

What are your career highlights?

Last year I worked on the Spire TV advert, which was an amazing project to be a part of and it was really rewarding to see the finished product.
