I am a Sports Medicine Consultant, and I’ve worked full-time in Sports Medicine for over 20 years, looking after Olympians and athletes, as well as weekend warriors, runners, and men and women in a wide variety of sports. I also help adolescents with sports and overuse injuries. I’ve worked extensively in elite sport, but I love to help people like me, who simply enjoy their sport and want to keep active.
I help people with the non-surgical management of all sports injuries and musculoskeletal pain, whether it’s knee, ankle, shoulder, hip or back pain. I have a particular interest in hip and groin pain, femoroacetabular impingement, hip arthritis, running and triathlon injuries, stress fractures, REDS (relative energy deficiency in sport), problems that aren’t getting better after orthopaedic surgery, and hypermobility in sport.
I have worked in elite sport for 20 years, have worked at a number of Olympic and Commonwealth games, with Team GB sports, rowing, football, golf, gymnastics, rugby, track and field, tennis and cricket.
I have looked after over 5,000 patients who have femoroacetabular impingement, and my work is based on a holistic, multidisciplinary approach, working with physios, osteopaths, podiatrists, strength and conditioning coaches, and when needed, orthopaedic surgeons.
I am a keen educator, and developed an MSc Programme in Exercise Rehabilitation at Bangor University, I have trained other Sports Doctors at Bath University, and have presented several prime-time TV productions.
