Having trained in several centres across the UK, I have gained broad based experience in the specialist field of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. I joined Bristol Children's Hospital as a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist in 2008. My practice at the Spire is similar to my NHS practice, which is purely in the specialty.
I provide specialist opinion, investigations and treatment plans for range of gastroenterology conditions which manifest as abdominal pain, change in bowel habit (diarrhoea or constipation), weight loss, vomiting, bleeding per rectum and feeding problems.
The main conditions include coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), allergic bowel disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux (GOR), dyspepsia, functional bowel problems such as irritable bowel syndrome(IBS), chronic constipation and recurrent abdominal pain (RAP) to name a few.
I perform diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy under general anaesthesia for children up to the age of 16 years.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Dharam Basude at Spire include:
