Specialises in
I am a highly qualified, professional and compassionate Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, who will place you at the centre of your treatment. I have a specialist practice focused exclusively on knee surgery, and consult privately at Spire Bristol Hospital. I also have an NHS practice at The Bristol Royal Infirmary and The Avon Orthopaedic Centre at Southmead Hospital.
My current practice comprises the treatment of all knee conditions. I offer arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery for the treatment of meniscal (shock absorber) tears, and cartilage injury. I offer a variety of ligament reconstruction (most commonly cruciate) depending upon patient goals and choice.
For the treatment of early arthritis, knee osteotomy (realignment surgery) may be appropriate to delay the need for replacement surgery, and this is something that I have a particular interest in For established arthritis, I offer both partial and total joint replacement, depending upon the pattern of disease. I also have a sub-specialty practice in the treatment of patellofemoral pain and instability.
Having grown up and attended school in Bristol, I graduated from Imperial College London Medical School in 2009, and undertook my specialist orthopaedic training on the nationally renowned Severn Deanery training programme. I then completed two further years of subspecialty fellowship training, firstly in major orthopaedic trauma in Calgary, Canada, and secondly in knee replacement, sports knee surgery, and the management of patellofemoral (kneecap joint) disorders, at the distinguished Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry. This extensive training, treating patients of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and aspirations, underpins the service that I am able to offer.
To complement my surgical practice, I have an ongoing involvement in research and medical education. I have presented and published my work both nationally and internationally, sit as faculty at national meetings, and train a senior orthopaedic fellow in my NHS practice. This commitment to research and education ensures that I remain contemporary in my practice, and am able to offer my patients the most up to date, evidence based, and effective treatment options.
