"The facilities at Spire Bristol Hospital allow me to manage complex patients and perform complex spinal surgical procedures in the independent sector."
Specialises in
I have been practicing spinal surgery for eight years in training, and as a senior fellow and consultant for the last four years. My training has exposed me to the full breadth of orthopaedic and neurosurgical spine surgery.
As a true dual trained surgeon in Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Spine Surgery, I am equipped with the skills and experience to provide the most appropriate treatments across the entire spectrum of Spinal Surgery. This includes degenerative disease, trauma, tumour and infection across the whole spine.
My particular interests include cervical and lumbar degenerative disease, minimally invasive surgeries and intra-operative computer navigation. I am excited by the technical innovations that drive spinal surgery forward to improve outcomes. I believe strongly in patient-centred care. I offer a range of treatment options and support patients to make informed decisions that are right for them.
I studied medicine at Oriel College, Oxford and obtained a First class degree in Physiological Sciences. Following completion of neurosurgical training in Bristol and a PhD in London, I developed a subspecialty interest in Spinal Surgery. I completed the Complex Spine Fellowship at the Leeds General Infirmary and the Sir Victor Horsley Spinal Fellowship at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.
I am the clinical lead for Neurosurgical Spine Surgery at Southmead Hospital.
I am the current Spinal Surgery Academic Lead for the Society of British Spinal Surgeons.
