I took up my consultant post at Frenchay and the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead in Bristol as an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in orthopaedic trauma and lower limb joint replacement, in particular pelvic reconstruction, complex trauma, hip and knee replacement and revision hip surgery. I am keen to individualise treatment for each patient and offer both operative and non-operative treatment modalities.
I studied at The University of Leeds Medical School. I intercalated and attained a first class honours degree in Anatomy in 1995. After graduating from medical school I continued my basic surgical training in Liverpool and Leicester becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh. I then undertook two years of clinical research at the University of Leicester.
My higher surgical training was completed on the South Trent rotation. I spent one year in Bristol, subspecialising in pelvic and acetabular trauma/complex trauma and spent a further year in Perth, Western Australia, specialising in complex hip and knee arthroplasty and revision arthroplasty.
I am currently the Audit lead for the Orthopaedic and Trauma Department at North Bristol and I also represent the musculoskeletal department as Lead Clinician for venous thromboembolism (VTE). I am dedicated to teaching both undergraduates and postgraduate trainees and have a number of publications in peer reviewed journals.
