Specialises in
I have specialist interests in complex fractures of the shoulder and elbow, arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery for shoulder and elbow problems including arthritis, tendon tears, impingement and instability. I also specialise in shoulder replacement surgery including shoulder resurfacing, total anatomic shoulder replacement and reverse geometry shoulder replacement. I provide management of post traumatic, degenerative and sports related injuries of the upper limb and also perform hand and wrist surgery including peripheral nerve decompression and tendon surgery.
I obtained my primary medical qualifications at the University of London. I then undertook my surgical training in the South West region, principally within Bristol.
I have worked and trained in the UK, Europe, North America and Australia to broaden my exposure to upper limb surgery and equip myself with the diagnostic and operative expertise to deliver excellent patient care. I have developed a wide range of specialist skills that have enabled me to deliver a confident, modern orthopaedic practice.
Following completion of my training programme I undertook further subspecialist training as the Trauma and Upper Limb Fellow at the University of Western Australia, before returning to Bristol where I was appointed at the Bristol Royal Infirmary in 2014.
I have always had a passion for surgical research and have taken an active interest in the academic controversies in both orthopaedic trauma surgery and elective upper limb orthopaedic surgery. I have had the privilege to be involved in a number of research projects, which have been presented at both national and international meetings.
Furthermore, I have always had great enthusiasm for medical education, on both an undergraduate and post-graduate level. I actively participate in the training of all grades of junior doctors and allied health professionals within a University Teaching Hospital and lecture to the higher surgical trainees locally on shoulder and elbow disorders.
