18 July 2024

Spire Healthcare has carried out a comprehensive review into the care of patients who underwent an LVMR procedure by Mr Dixon at Spire Bristol Hospital between 1996 and 2017 and is today publishing a summary report of its findings.

Commenting on the review, Dr Cathy Cale, Group Medical Director for Spire Healthcare, said:

“We sincerely apologise to all patients who did not receive an acceptable standard of care when treated by Mr Dixon at Spire Bristol Hospital.

“Patient safety and quality of care are at the heart of everything we do at Spire, and we are committed to investigating fully if concerns are raised.

“We have contacted all known patients of Mr Dixon who have had an LVMR procedure to review their care and to offer support.

“If any Spire Bristol patients have concerns about their care under Mr Dixon, they should call our dedicated helpline (0800 783 8163) or email bristolhosphelpline@spirehealthcare.com.”

Spire Healthcare suspended Mr Dixon in 2017 and he has not practised in our hospitals since then.
