Dr Farag trained in renal and acute general medicine at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, and in elderly and general medicine at University Hospital, Cardiff.
Dr Farag helped set up stroke services at Hemel Hempstead Hospital, and later joined the team at Watford Stroke Unit. He went on to work as consultant physician in general, elderly and stroke medicine at Hemel and Watford Hospitals from 1986-2011, and currently practices as a consultant physician at Bedford Hospital (NHS), Spire Bushey Hospital and Spire Harpenden Hospital for his private practice.
Dr Farag is now a Consultant Physician at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust and as PACES examiner for the Royal College of Physicians London as well as an Honorary Senior Lecturer of postgraduate medicine at the University of Hertfordshire.
Out-patient service at Spire Harpenden: I concentrate on neurovascular and transient ischemic attacks both for general patients and elderly medicine patients with age related disease.
In-patient services: I cover acute elderly medical problems, rehabilitation, medical referrals for oncology and post-operative medical management. I also have an interest in the treatment of post-stroke care and rehabilitation. Cognitive impairment, re-assessment, diagnosis and treatment are some of my specialties.
