Mr Julian Livingstone

Consultant Podiatrist

BSc, DPodM, MChS, FCPM, FFPM RCPS (GLASG)

I trained in London and qualified in 1990. I was appointed to a consultant position within the orthopaedic team at Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals and The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust in 2002 - one of the first such appointments in the country.

Primarily I am a specialist in the function of the foot during the gait (walking) cycle and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders of the lower limb arising from foot function. I have specialist interest in the paediatric/growing foot.

Although a musculoskeletal specialist, I am also able to treat, investigate and provide advice on all problems that can affect the foot and ankle. I have a specialist interest in the developing foot of children but provide care effectively from birth to old age.

An elected board member of the Faculty of Podiatric medicine, the body responsible for postgraduate podiatric education, I am also on the committees of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrist, responsible for policy and dealing with Private Medical Insurers and promoting Podiatry to government and other professional bodies.

I have lectured at National and International Conferences. I lecture at Master's level university courses and am involved in the training of Orthopaedic Surgeons, GPs and Physiotherapists, as well as Podiatrists. Widely respected both within and outside of my profession I strive to bring the best evidence based modern treatments available for my patients.
