I am an expert in foot and ankle arthritis. I specialise in adult flat feet and hind foot arthritis. My special interest is in arthrodesis of painful arthritic joints in the foot and ankle. I am an ankle arthroplasty surgeon and offer total ankle replacement for painful arthritic ankles. I strive to provide a state-of-the-art foot and ankle service in the NHS and the private sector. My special interest includes bunion surgery, all forms of forefoot deformities and forefoot neurological pain.

I also specialise in sports injuries of the lower limb. I offer keyhole surgery for all sporting injuries of the knee and ankle. I am an expert in tendon injuries of the foot and ankle. I regularly deal with, and operate on sports-related injuries of the Achilles tendon, lateral ankle ligaments and peroneal tendons. My special interest is in all types of sport-related fractures of the knee, leg, ankle and foot.

I joined the faculty in Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Trust in 2004 as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. I have been in this post for more than 15 years and have gained extensive experience in my field of expertise.

My career in medicine started in India in 1984. I finished MBBS and soon decided to pursue a career in Orthopaedic surgery. I got into the resident programme and successfully completed a Thesis on “Cartilage healing” and was awarded the Masters degree in Orthopaedics. Following a short stint as a Lecturer in a university medical school, I decided to broaden my experience and came over to England in 1994.

My extensive training in England has taken me to centres of excellence in Sheffield, Leicester and London. On the way I was awarded the MCh (Orth) degree in 1998 from the University of Liverpool, the FRCS in 2002, followed by the Fellowship of the Intercollegiate board for Trauma and Orthopaedics, FRCS (Tr & Orth), in 2003.

Additional information

Orthopaedic surgery

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Royal Free Hospital NHS Trust, based at Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Trust

I live in Cockfosters. I have two boys who have studied in North London. The older one studied at Haberdasher’s Aske School in Elstree and is now studying Physics at Imperial College London. The younger one finished his A-levels from St Albans Boys School and is now studying Biology at Nottingham University.

I am a keen sportsman and have always taken keen interest in cricket, football and golf. I am a member of the Hadley Wood golf club and try and play as often as possible. I am always keen to get advice from my patients on how to improve my swing.

I love cooking and take pride in my creations. Cooking is my way of winding down after a hard day’s work. It is my other specialty.

My family and I love watching movies. I have been fortunate enough to star as an extra in an Indian movie being filmed in London - my five minutes of glory!
