I was born in Dublin and trained at Trinity College Dublin, qualifying in 1983. For the next six years I pursued general training in surgery within the Dublin hospital network and then transferred to ear, nose and throat surgery at Sheffield. I took up a post in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in 1995 and then transferred to the Royal Free Hospital as Senior Registrar.
My career continued to the Royal Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. I took up my post at Northwick Park Hospital in 1998. During this time I had broad training in all aspects of ear, nose and throat surgery but specialising in head and neck surgery. Since arriving at Northwick Park Hospital I have set up a Head and Neck surgical unit and am presently Clinical Director for the Head and Neck Division within this trust. I hope to further this unit and other units under my guidance over the next three to four years.
