I am an ambitious and experienced surgeon with 20 years of surgical career, including the last 10 years as a Consultant. I offer advanced skills and knowledge in management of trauma and orthopaedic presentations, chiefly in paediatric orthopaedics, foot and ankle surgery and general orthopaedic trauma.
In the field of paediatric orthopaedics, I am an expert in the treatment of hip dysplasia and club feet in babies, toddlers and children. I personally perform ultrasound scanning and clinical assessment of babies towards hip dysplasia with Graf's method. I offer all range of conservative and surgical procedures for treatment of dysplastic and dislocated hips including open reduction and pelvic osteotomies. I have successfully set up Ponseti clinics, treating club feet with casting and surgery. I have broad experience in the managing of paediatric trauma, including wrist and elbow fractures, overuse syndromes and soft tissue injuries.
In terms of adult patients, I have over five years' experience in reconstructive foot surgery, including correction of bunions, flat feet, neuromuscular deformities and osteoarthritis. I have an interest in plantar fasciitis and tendinopathies around the foot and ankle.
Within the scope of my paediatric and adult practice, I perform and supervise between 150 and 200 surgical procedures per year.
I have been awarded Clinical Excellence Awards in the years 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. I regularly train, tutor and appraise medical students, foundation doctors and specialty trainees as their assigned educational and clinical supervisor. I am a GMC appraiser in the North West of Anglia Foundation Trust.
I have a strong academic background, with papers published in peer reviewed journals. I regularly review articles for BMJ cases.
I am a treasurer for East of Anglia Paediatric Orthopaedic Group.
