I qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1996 and after junior training posts in South Wales and Australia, joined the all Wales Endocrine, Diabetes and Medicine training scheme in 2001. I was awarded an MD by Cardiff University in 2006 for research investigating the Myocardial and Vascular effects of insulin sensitisation, and gained post-doctoral experience at King’s College London. After a year as Lecturer in Medicine at Cardiff University, I commenced work at the University Hospital of Wales as a Consultant Physician in 2008.
I run a high turnover Medical short stay ward at the University Hospital of Wales, as well as contributing to the tertiary Endocrine and Diabetes services at Cardiff and Vale UHB.
I am Clinical Governance lead for Medicine, and head the In-patient Diabetes service at the University Hospital of Wales.
