Having trained in Sheffield I spent two years in South Africa as a registrar in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine, specialising in TB, general respiratory and critical care medicine. On my return I consolidated my registrar experience in respiratory medicine at Kings (where I spent three years and gained a PhD in asthma and airway responsiveness), Guys (severe asthma, allergy and immunotherapy clinics) and St Thomas (intensive care).
I then spent two years at the Royal Brompton Hospital as a Clinical Tutor for the MSc/Diploma course in Thoracic medicine which allowed me to pursue my interest in Cystic Fibrosis but also develop my skills in asthma, allergy and sleep as well as other specialist areas. It was here that my consultant career started in cystic fibrosis with clinics also in allergy and sleep.
The opportunity to move to Wales in 2005 as Director of the All Wales Cystic Fibrosis service and as Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine was one I could not resist.

I have soon settled into my country life in the Vale enabling me to pursue my enthusiasm for walking and the countryside. I have run numerous marathons for charity and continue to keep fit. I love theatre, most music but relax to classical, Nina Simone etc. Wining and dining is always a winner. My house and garden are my castle and grounds, my place of thought and endless hours of contemplation.
