I have been a Consultant in General and Respiratory Medicine based at University Hospital Llandough since 2009. I was appointed a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University in 2022 and a Visiting Professor at the University of South Wales in 2024.
I qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine with Honours in 2000 and was also awarded a First Class Honours degree in Medical Biochemistry in 1997. I completed my higher training in Respiratory Medicine on the All Wales Rotation and in 2009 was awarded an MD for my research into the cardiovascular effects of COPD.
My specialist interests include airways disease (asthma, COPD and Bronchiectasis) and unexplained breathlessness.
I am currently the National Clinical lead for COPD in Wales and have helped to develop the endobronchial valve service in Wales. I am also Clinical Lead for Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing and the COPD team in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Personal profile
I grew up in Egypt but spent most of my teenage years in Bournemouth, England. I moved to Wales in 1994 to study medicine and have stayed here ever since. I am married with two children and enjoy spending my spare time with my family. My hobbies (when I get the time!) include playing tennis, swimming and cooking.
