Consultant Gynaecologist Menopause

MBChB FRCOG DFSRH

"I look forward to bringing Specialist Menopause care to Spire Cardiff Hospital."

I have been a Consultant Gynaecologist for 13 years, and have developed a special interest in the care of women experiencing symptoms of menopause and perimenopause. I am an accredited Menopause Specialist recognised by the British Menopause Society and holds the advanced certificate in the principals and practice of menopause care.

I have a thorough understanding of the problems associated with the diagnosis and management of menopause and the impact it may have both personally and professionally. I am medical lead of a busy specialist menopause service where I am proud to provide individualised care to women.

I am able to help in the diagnosis of both perimenopause and menopause and offer medical management. The treatment offered would be reflective of my experience in the NHS Menopause clinic.

I have two specialist menopause clinics weekly in my NHS practice in which we see referrals from both primary and secondary care. During the last 2 years the demand for menopause care has increased and we now see an average of 500 new referrals per year and rising.

Within the NHS service I have experience of managing women with challenging symptoms and also patients with multiple medical problems which can make both diagnosis and treatment more challenging within the primary care setting. I work within evidence based guidelines based on framework provided by the British Menopause Society and NICE, and this would be reflected in my work through Spire Cardiff Hospital.

I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and also a Diplomate of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health. Currently, I am Lead for Integrated Sexual Health and Menopause within Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board.

I am Chair of the Welsh Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health.
