Currently I am the lead surgeon for the Colorectal Surgical Department at University Hospital of Wales, servicing the population of Cardiff and the Vale and providing specialist services for the wider South Wales area. In addition, I am the Colorectal Cancer Lead Clinician for the health board.
I have a particular interest and expertise in minimally invasive surgical approaches to colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. Treatment options for haemorrhoidal disease and abdominal hernia have also interested me for a number of years.
I graduated in 2002 from University College Hospital, London, and subsequently undertook extensive surgical training in South West England, Southampton, Edinburgh, Wales and Australia. I obtained sub-specialty training in laparoscopic colorectal surgery from Cardiff and was appointed as the Overseas Minimally Invasive Colorectal Fellow at the Royal Brisbane Hospital Queensland in 2012-13. I have been a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at University Hospital of Wales since 2013.
I hold a postgraduate qualification in Medical Education and enjoy training junior doctors in the art of surgery and encouraging and developing technological surgical advances.
I am Clinical Lecturer to Cardiff University School of Medicine.
