I am an expert in the management of benign breast problems and breast cancer. I treat breast cancer patients as part of the national breast screening programme and offer advanced breast reconstruction and oncoplastic techniques. I was appointed consultant surgeon in 2011 and continue to work as a general surgeon with a specialist interest in breast surgery.
To date I have treated over 600 breast cancer patients and performed over 300 breast reconstruction procedures both in the immediate and delayed setting.
I started my medical training in 1995 and graduated in 2001 from the University of Manchester Medical school with an overall honours degree and distinction in my finals. I completed my pre-registration training and basic surgical training rotation in the teaching hospitals of Manchester.
I completed my higher surgical training in general surgery in Merseyside, before being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2010. Following this I was awarded the prestigious National Breast Oncoplastic Fellowship in Leeds, where I trained with world renown breast and plastic surgeons in advanced breast oncoplastic and reconstruction techniques. During the fellowship year I was able to travel to the prestigious Hospital Quirón (Madrid), to train with Professor Martín Del Yerro; a world leading expert in aesthetic breast surgery.
I am lead surgeon for the Warrington, Halton, St Helens and Knowsley breast screening service. I was previously clinical governance lead for general surgery Warrington and Halton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
I am passionate about teaching and I am currently honorary senior lecturer at the University of Liverpool.
