MBBS, FRCS (Orth)
Specialises in
I have been a fellowship-trained foot and ankle consultant for nearly five years now.
My current scope of practice includes the majority of disorders of the foot and ankle. This includes, but is not limited, to treatment of bunions, lesser toe deformities, Morton’s neuromas, arthritis of the big toe, midfoot, hindfoot and ankle, heel problems affecting the Achilles tendon or plantar fascia, foot deformities such as flatfeet (pes planus) or high-arched feet (cavovarus).
I also treat fractures, tendon disorders and sports injuries in the foot and ankle as well as diabetic foot problems. For cases that require surgery, I offer open, minimally invasive and arthroscopic treatments depending on the condition.
I have performed in excess of 5,000 procedures to date. As a consultant I undertake over 300 procedures yearly, divided roughly equally between trauma and elective surgery. I have a wealth of experience in deformity correction surgery of the big toe and lesser toes as well as surgery for arthritic conditions throughout the foot and ankle. I monitor my surgical activity closely and collect patient related outcomes for most elective procedures.
I graduated from Newcastle University in 2003. I completed my surgical training in the Mersey region and undertook a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. I joined Warrington Hospital as a consultant in 2019.
In 2020, I completed the British Orthopaedic Association’s flagship Future Leaders Programme and developed an interest in human factors in surgery, which I run instructional courses on. I am also a full instructor on the European Trauma Course.
I am the current audit and governance lead for the orthopaedic department in Warrington Hospital, a role which deepened my insight further in the delivery of high standard safe surgery.
I am actively involved in education, research and quality improvement and, to date, have over 25 peer reviewed publications, 2 book chapters and 1 book to my name.
