MB ChB, FRCOphth
My clinical practice at Spire Cheshire Hospital is predominantly General Ophthalmology, Oculoplastics, Cornea and ‘Dry Eyes’. This is the same as my NHS practice with the addition of some cosmetic non-surgical treatments.
Oculoplastics is the treatment of conditions affecting the eyelids and structures around the eye. This includes conditions such as lumps and bumps, eyelid entropion (rolling in) and ectropion (rolling out), skin cancers (basal cell carcinoma), ptosis (droopy eyelids), thyroid orbitopathy, dermatochalasis (excess skin in the upper eyelid) and causes and treatment of excessive tears.
General Ophthalmology is a term encompassing all conditions that can affect the eye which are of course numerous, and treatment may involve sub-specialties within Ophthalmology or other clinical specialties such as Dermatology, Rheumatology, Neurology etc. As a General Ophthalmologist we will evaluate your condition and treat if appropriate or refer onwards to another specialist.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Mark Halliwell at Spire include:
Ophthalmology
Cosmetic surgery
Other treatments
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Cheshire Hospital.
