I have been a Consultant Surgeon for nearly 15 years at Warrington Hospital where I have served full terms as the Lead Cancer Clinician, Postgraduate Clinical Tutor, Deputy Director / Acting Director of Medical Education. I completed my term as Deputy Director of Surgical Education for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and was elected to its College Council in December 2022.

Despite extensive experience in general surgery, I provide a resectional oncoplastic breast surgery service. I perform image guided surgery (wire / radioactive/ seed localisation) and sentinel lymph node biopsies for staging breast cancer.

I offer primary breast reconstruction / symmetrisation surgery. I also perform thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

I trained as a general surgeon with particular emphasis on breast, endocrine, gallbladder and open hernia surgery for over 13 years to achieve consultant status in my home country before relocating to the UK for further training in the year 2000.

Seven years in training in the Mersey region led to further proficiency in general , breast and endocrine surgery as well as laparoscopic cholecystectomies (elective conversion to open rate 1% - national 5%).

I have a keen interest in surgical teaching and training, and I am a member of faculty on all the major surgical courses for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Professional leadership

Clinical lead for cancer services, Warrington and Halton NHS Foundation Trust

Consultant General and Breast Surgeon, Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

I live in Warrington with my wife. Both my sons live in the USA. I enjoy walks in the hills in the Lake District and North Wales (nostalgia from my 11 years as an officer in the army). I swim and play squash. I am a motorbike enthusiast and ride my two bikes regularly. I satisfy my sense of precision by target shooting at the Warrington Rifle Club on weekends.
