BSc, MB BS, FRCS (Urol)
I am the lead surgeon in the treatment of kidney cancer in Surrey (and the surrounds) and perform more than 100 laparoscopic or keyhole procedures on the kidney each year. I have performed the largest number of robotic assisted kidney procedures in the UK, including partial nephrectomy, nephro-ureterectomy and pyeloplasty.
I was instrumental in the arrival of the Da Vinci robot to Frimley Park Hospital as well as introducing laparoscopic cryoablation in the treatment of kidney cancers to the region, uniquely employing single port techniques both in this setting and in the management of more common conditions such as the symptomatic varicocele.
My internationally recognised expertise in the Greenlight laser for treatment of the symptomatic prostate has led to my continued involvement in cutting edge developments in this and other technologies. This includes an integral role in the introduction of the Prostatic Urethral Lift (PUL) procedure using the UroLift® device in the UK both as part of a randomised trial and in the private sector.
Having qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Hospitals I spent significant time gaining a wide general surgical skills base, before embarking on six years specialist urological training. This included time I spent in research and teaching as a clinical lecturer in urology at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' medical schools, based at King's College Hospital. It was there that I introduced the Greenlight laser to the UK and also began training in laparoscopic and other minimally surgical approaches.
