Spire Clare Park Hospital maintains its 'Good' CQC rating

23 October 2024

  • Hospital rated as ‘Good’ for being safe, effective and well-led
  • Daily safety huddle and multidisciplinary team working helps colleagues care for people safely across different hospital services

Spire Clare Park Hospital has maintained its overall ‘Good’ rating, following an unannounced inspection of services by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in March 2024. The previous inspection had been in 2022.

As well as receiving a ‘Good’ overall rating, the hospital was rated ‘Good’ for being safe, effective, and well-led.

In the report, CQC inspectors praised the way in which hospital leaders monitored safety, quality and performance in all services, and that people were treated with compassion and kindness and involved in decisions about their care. People said they felt supported to ask questions about their conditions and that they were treated with compassion. Colleagues said the daily safety huddle and multidisciplinary team working was good, making it easy to share information between teams, so people can be cared for safely across different hospital services.

Inspectors made particular mention of how people said that their care through from referral to discharge, and how they were told what to expect in terms of recovery, was well managed. Patients said they were well informed verbally and in writing about potential risks and benefits of the treatment they were receiving.

The CQC also commented positively on how Spire Clare Park Hospital’s leadership showed that they had the experience, capacity, capability and integrity to deliver safe and effective care. Colleagues said that they felt supported and encouraged and that hospital leaders worked together to ensure culture and working practices at the hospital provided good quality care to people. Colleagues felt supported to reach their potential and become future leaders.
