Mr Lee Breakwell

Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon

MB ChB, MSc, FRCS (Tr & Orth)

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in spinal surgery at the Northern General Hospital, with a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital. I undertake all forms of spinal surgery including the treatment of degenerative conditions, scoliosis, tumours, trauma and infections.

I was a medical student in Sheffield qualifying in 1994. I worked in Sheffield until 1999 when I began my Orthopaedic training in the West Midlands working at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. I specialised in spinal surgery before completing three fellowships in spinal deformity and reconstruction in St Louis and San Diego in the USA, followed by the British Orthopaedic Association National Fellowship in Nottingham.

I have a full-time spinal practice in the NHS and have a particular interest in training. I am currently Revalidation Lead for Sheffield Children’s Hospital and represent Spinal Surgery on the British Orthopaedic Association Council. I enjoy teaching and regularly participate in International Educational Programmes.
