Mr Nadir Osman

Consultant Urologist

MBChB (Hons), PhD Sheffield, FRCS (Urol) RCS

I am a Consultant Urologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, with a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital.

I have a specialist interest in urinary tract reconstruction and work within a team that provides an internationally recognised tertiary referral service. I specialise in procedures to treat urethral stricture disease, complex incontinence problems including urogenital fistula and end stage bladder disease.

I completed medical studies at the University of Liverpool (2006) graduating with honours. I undertook specialist training in Urology in Merseyside and Yorkshire between 2010-2018. The last two years of my training were exclusively in urinary tract reconstruction (Prof C. Chapple). This was followed by focused training in complex vaginal reconstruction in Moscow (Prof D. Pushkar). I have undertaken research in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine for pelvic floor disorders leading to the award of a PhD (2014).

I am active in research acting as an investigator in clinical trials lower urinary tract disorders. I have presented over 30 research posters and given 6 invited presentations at national and international meetings. I have published over 80 peer-reviewed articles as well as 22 book chapters and 2 books. I serve on the editorial board of the premier journal in functional urology, Neurourology and Urodynamics, as well as being a reviewer for several journals. In addition, I am a full panel member of the European Association of Urology (EAU) Urethral stricture guideline panel, the EAU young academic urologist’s functional urology group and the International Continence society working group on Underactive bladder.

In 2019 I was selected as one of only three urologists across Europe for the prestigious EAU-AUA academic exchange program, during which I visited centres across the USA to further my expertise.
