Specialises in
I have been a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon since 2009, with a particular interest in gallbladder disease, laparoscopic hernia surgery, anti-reflux procedures and bariatric surgery.
I am a specialist in laparoscopic surgery, and have wide experience in the treatment of abdominal wall and groin hernias, gallbladder and biliary surgery. I am an experienced endoscopist and endoscopic trainer, and use this to diagnose upper gastrointestinal problems, as well as for treatments such as dilatation of strictures.
I have performed over 1,000 laparoscopic cholecystectomies and 500 laparoscopic hernia repairs.
I have developed a major bariatric centre at the Royal Berkshire hospital, and provide a parallel practice at the Spire Dunedin Hospital with our specialist bariatric multidisciplinary team. The practice offers a full range of primary procedures including gastric bypass, gastric bands, balloons and sleeve gastrectomy, as well as revisional surgery, with excellent results for both weight loss and resolution of weight related comorbidities.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Miss Marianne Sampson at Spire include:
Bariatrics
Gastroenterology
Endoscopy
Other treatments
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Dunedin Hospital.
