I am a fellowship trained Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in treating disorders of the shoulder and the elbow, undertaking advanced keyhole techniques or open joint replacement surgery.
I am deeply committed to providing comprehensive care to patients suffering from various shoulder and elbow conditions, including sport injuries, rotator cuff tears, shoulder impingement syndrome, frozen shoulder, calcific tendinitis, shoulder and elbow instability and dislocation, degenerative and inflammatory arthritis, tennis and golfer's elbow, as well as upper limb fractures.
I perform around 100 shoulder arthroplasty a year, of which 10% are revision surgeries; around 50 arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs and shoulder stabilisations. I am one of the few surgeons in the country that performs elbow arthroplasty surgery, either for trauma or degenerative conditions.
I completed my medical degree at the University of Pavia, Italy in 2009 and trained in trauma and orthopaedics in Milan, Italy. I moved to the UK in 2013 and soon after relocating, I completed two upper limb fellowships: one at the prestigious Rowley Bristow Unit, Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS FT, Chertsey UK and one at the Reading Shoulder Unit, Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS FT, Reading UK, international centre of excellence. I then expanded my knowledge and increased my surgical experience completing a limb reconstruction fellowship at St George's University Hospital NHS FT, one of the four major trauma centres in London. I was appointed as a Consultant in 2019 and now work at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS FT, Kent UK.
I hold a position as a Lecturer at the Kent and Medway Medical School and serve as the Director of Clinical Research at the Reading Shoulder Unit, as well as being Research Lead for the William Harvey Hospital, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
With a remarkable track record of more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals, I have made significant contributions to the fields of upper limb and trauma surgery. I have also co-authored several book chapters, further solidifying my reputation as a leading expert in my area of specialisation. My dedication to teaching and sharing knowledge extends to my role as a faculty member in advanced training courses for shoulder and elbow replacement surgery and arthroscopic surgery.
