I am an award winning cataract and glaucoma surgeon ranked as one of the top 10 glaucoma specialists in Europe. I am a consultant at Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, Edinburgh and an NHS Scotland Research Clinician. I provide the latest surgical treatments with the full range of advanced lens implants and have completed over 3,000 cataract procedures.
I am one of the few ophthalmologists to have completed two advanced training fellowships, graduating from two of the world's leading eye hospitals, Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and Shiley Eye Institute, University of California, San Diego, USA. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, The Royal College of Ophthalmologists and European Board of Ophthalmologists, awarded the highest score in Europe in my board examination.
I hold the European Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS) Sub-specialist in Cataract and Refractive Surgery Diploma and was awarded a postgraduate diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery with distinction from Ulster University.
In 2020 I was elected as a member of the European Glaucoma Society (EGS) Executive Committee and now co-chair the EGS Scientific Committee. I was the first surgeon in Scotland to perform the minimally invasive glaucoma surgery procedures iStent, Hydrus, OMNI and PreserFlo Microshunt. I was also the first surgeon in Scotland to perform the Paul glaucoma implant and Eyewatch procedures.
I work with most insurance companies but many of my patients choose to self pay.

I am up to date with the latest research and have had over 50 publications in major journals including Ophthalmology and the British and American Journals of Ophthalmology. Specialist interests include Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging to detect glaucoma at the earliest stages and minimally invasive surgical techniques. My glaucoma research has won best paper awards from the UK and Eire Glaucoma Society and The Scottish Ophthalmological Club. I have been invited to lecture at international meetings including the World Glaucoma Congress, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), European Glaucoma Society (EGS) and the Chinese Ophthalmological Society, and is am examiner for the European Board of Ophthalmologists.
