BSC (Med Sci), MB ChB, MRCP, FRCR, MD
I am a Consultant Clinical Oncologist who specialises in bowel, prostate and bladder cancers. As an oncologist, I provide non-surgical management of these cancers with treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy and immunotherapy. My NHS practice is based at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. I graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2002 having completed an intercalated Bsc in 2000. I received my MRCP in 2006, FRCR in 2010 and I received an MD from the University of Edinburgh in 2016.
In addition to my clinical practice, I am a Clinical Expert Advisor for the Scottish Medicines Consortium and I regularly peer review journals being considered for publication in national and international journals. I have also peer reviewed articles for Health Improvement Scotland. I have been part of a UK consortium of oncologists who have put together consensus statements for the management of bladder cancer through the Royal College of Radiologists.
I have a particular interest in research and am a Principal Investigator in several key national and international clinical trials including PRIME-RT, RAIDER, ADD-ASPIRIN and RADICALS. I am the radiotherapy lead for lower GI cancers at the Beatson. In addition, I am the team trainer for uro-oncology trainees. Furthermore, I pioneered the introduction of IMRT and IGRT for the treatment of bladder cancer at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.
