I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh specialising in sports injuries of the knee and hip. My expertise is in arthroscopic surgery including ligament reconstruction, meniscus and cartilage repair and hip impingement.
I completed specialist training in Sports Orthopaedics at Stanford University in California where I served as Assistant Team Physician for the San Francisco 49ers NFL and Stanford Athletics. I am a member of the Medical Advisory Board for DP World Tour Golf / The R&A.
My medical training was at the University of Edinburgh where I was awarded 1st Class Honours in Sports Science Medicine. While completing orthopaedic surgery training in Edinburgh I gained a PhD in Regenerative Medicine from The University of Edinburgh / University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
My Research interests are in the prevention and treatment of sports injuries. I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at The University of Edinburgh and co-lead the Edinburgh Sports Medicine Research Network. I have authored more than 100 scientific publications and am regularly invited to speak at national and international meetings on the management of sports injuries.
