MD, PhD, FRCS (Ed), FRCS (SN)
I have been a Consultant Neurosurgeon in Scotland since 2002. I trained in London, Edinburgh and Cincinnati. I am involved in the management of most elective and emergency neurosurgical pathologies. Over 500 patients are treated annually under my care. The majority of the patients I treat harbour spinal pathologies. In addition, I have a major clinical involvement in the treatment of patients who harbour benign tumours in the base of the skull and cerebrovascular lesions.
My research interests currently focus on the pathophysiology of cervical spinal degeneration.
My non-clinical interests involve undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training. I am very actively involved with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, as an Examiner, Convener of Specialists Courses and Neurosurgical Educational Lead.
