I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England, a former Council member of the Society of British Neurological Surgeons (SBNS), and of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons (BASS).
I am current Chair of the UK Spinal Societies Board, an overarching Board that helps integrate the best of spinal research, physiotherapy, other manual therapies and surgery for spinal diseases.
I have been the neurosurgical advisor, the Chief Medical Officer in Scotland, and am a Board member of the Managed Surgical Network for Neurosurgery in Scotland.
My research interests are in acute cauda equina syndrome, cervical arthroplasty, and pituitary and skull base surgery.
