"Spire Edinburgh Hospitals allow me to offer bespoke treatments in a friendly environment that is conducive to patient centred care."
Specialises in
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and specialise in the management of sporting, traumatic and degenerative conditions of the upper limb. I have a particular interest in the shoulder and undertook two specialist surgical training fellowships at the Glasgow Royal infirmary and the renowned Sydney Shoulder Institute.
My personal experience of shoulder injuries and surgery allows me to provide patients with a unique perspective on the surgical experience and recovery.
My undergraduate and postgraduate training was undertaken in Edinburgh where I was also awarded an MD for orthopaedic research.
I am fortunate that orthopaedic surgery is not only my profession but also my passion. The primary aim for any consultation is to ensure each patient is well informed about their condition and understands the treatment options. I will always act as an advocate for my patients, ensuring they receive a bespoke treatment plan that meets their specific needs and expectations.
I have published over 30 peer reviewed articles and have written a successful textbook for surgical trainees that has been translated into multiple languages and has sold 30,000 copies internationally. My current research interests focus on the management of traumatic and sporting injuries of the shoulder.
