I am the Respiratory Infection Lead and have a special interest in Bronchiectasis, Community Acquired Pneumonia and Tuberculosis.
I graduated from the University of Glasgow where I obtained my MD Thesis in 1991. After a spell working as a Specialist Registrar and Clinical Research Fellow in Birmingham I returned to Scotland where I have been a Consultant Respiratory Physician at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh since 2001.
I work in Spire Shawfair Park's endoscopy suite which holds JAG accreditation.
I am actively involved in clinical and translational research and was in the committee for the British Thoracic Society Bronchiectasis and Pneumonia Guidelines and Scottish TB National Guidelines.
I am Honorary Reader at the University of Edinburgh where I am involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate training. I am the Associate Post-Graduate Dean for Quality Management for South-East of Scotland.

I am married with four children. Outside my clinical interests and research work I enjoy spending time with my family and playing racquet sports particularly squash.
