Preparing for breast uplift surgery at Spire Edinburgh Hospitals

Getting here

Our Spire Murrayfield Hospital is an approximate 20 minute drive east from Edinburgh Airport or 10 minutes west from Haymarket train station. We also have free on-site parking available for you and your visitors.

Your consultations

Once you’ve made an enquiry, we can arrange for you to meet with one of our cosmetic surgeons – usually within a few days. There’ll be a chance to discuss your reasons for having treatment, as well as your medical history. Your consultant will explain what will happen during the procedure, including the type of anaesthetic you'll have. They may also need you to have a pre-operative assessment.

You can also find out more about:

  • The risks and complications
  • Any tests you may need to have before surgery
  • How the medical team will support your recovery and aftercare

Your consultant will be able to answer any questions you may have about your surgery and its results. There's no pressure to make a decision. Even if you feel certain about what you want to do next, you'll have plenty of time to reflect after your appointment during the cooling-off period.

Breast uplift surgery: your procedure

When you arrive at Spire Edinburgh Hospitals, you’ll meet your surgical team and anaesthetist before your operation. You’ll have a general anaesthetic for the procedure, which means you’ll be asleep throughout.

The operation usually takes between one and three hours. It involves the surgeon making cuts (incisions) in order to lift and reshape your breasts.

You may be able to go home on the same day as your surgery but, if you need to stay overnight, you’ll have your own comfortable, en-suite room.
