Specialises in
I have been an anaesthetist for last 21 years and been practicing pain medicine for last 12 years and consultant for last 11 years. I have used my experience and skills in anaesthetics and pain management, when practicing in Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and in Spire Elland, Yorkshire.
My expertise in pain management is mainly focussed in back pain, sciatica, knee and shoulder pain,, chronic regional pain syndrome, low back pain and chronic abdominal pain.
I understand chronic pain in some patients are unfortunately difficult to manage, so I also been open in discussing alternative options in treatment in like Cannabis and low dose naltrexone as per the evidence when everything has been tried and exhausted as I have found benefits with it.
I am a great advocate in the holistic approach of pain management, one that focuses not only on pain relief but also the functional and emotional wellbeing of the patient. I consider patient empowerment through patient education and believe clinical consultation to be a partnership based on effective communication and collaboration between the patient and the doctor.
I possess a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the medical field, initially graduating from the University of Calicut with Bachelor of Medicine, before pursuing a Doctor of Medicine and a diploma in anaesthesia from the Mahatma Gandhi University, receiving a first-class honours in both. As mentioned, I am currently working at the Spire Elland Hospital as a consultant in anaesthesia and pain medicine, as well as part of the NHS Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. Alongside my experience in chronic pain, I also hold experience working in palliative care, neurosurgery, gynaecology, surgery, orthopaedics and as part of a musculoskeletal team in managing patients with chronic pain.
