Prior to graduating medical school in Berlin, I trained as a nurse at the Central Middlesex and the Northwick Park Hospital in London. After finishing my degree I worked in different hospitals in general surgery and in trauma surgery. General training was completed in 1998 and I continued training as a trauma surgeon (a sub-specialty in Germany) until completing this training period in 2000.
I then worked as an assistant medical director of a big trauma department in Berlin being responsible for major joint replacement surgery, computer assisted surgery, hand surgery, paediatric trauma surgery and acute trauma surgery. Following this post I was then appointed Orthopaedic Surgeon at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust.
