I have been passionate about eye surgery for over 18 years, my constant inspiration being the patients that I treat and the improvements to their lives that treatment can bring.
I live and work in Yorkshire, where I completed my advanced specialist ophthalmic surgical training. I was appointed as Consultant at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust in 2002. A great pioneer of breakthrough treatments, I constantly distinguish myself by spearheading major ophthalmic developments and as such I have successfully notched up several noteworthy 'firsts' in the Yorkshire region and beyond.
Not one to rest on former achievements, I continue to devote much time and energy towards further innovation with particular emphasis on helping to encourage the adoption of new ideas wherever they have been clearly proven to help improve the lives of my patients.
I also work tirelessly to identify innovative new developments in macular degeneration, cataract surgery and vision correction technology, bringing major advancements in eye care from around the world.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Shafiq Rehman at Spire include:

Outside of my working life, I spend as much time as possible with my wife, four children and one very lively labradoodle. I maintain long held interests in cosmology, evolutionary science and in the history of medical and scientific endeavours. I recently rekindled a long lost interest in golf spurred on by one of my sons who torments and inspires me in equal measure! I remain an avid traveller and hope to one day to circumnavigate the world but probably not until I have hung up my operating gloves.
