He was accepted as a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in 1991 and was awarded a doctorate in medicine by the University of Southampton in 1994 for work in the field of reproductive endocrinology and his thesis looking at the endometrial response to gonadotropin and hormone replacement treatments. He has recently been elected to fellowship by the RCOG having been deemed to have advanced the science and practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Before moving to Blackpool in March 1999 his special interests led him to acquire additional skills in minimal access gynaecological surgery and urogynaecology.
He was appointed to his present post in Blackpool to develop the general gynaecological service in these areas. He combines these special interest skills with a wide experience in general gynaecology and a philosophy of patient focused care. He feels strongly that women should be provided with a full explanation of all treatment options and that their involvement in the decision making process is central to a successful outcome.
